Save the Date: The 14th Annual SciREN Coast Networking Event
Mark your calendars for the 14th Annual SciREN Coast Networking Event, happening on Wednesday, February 10th, 2027 from 5:00 to 8:30 PM.
At SciREN events, researchers provide educators with K-12 classroom ready lesson plans which are based on their current work and adhere to state and national educational standards. Researchers and scientists may also offer the opportunity to coordinate classroom visits. Additionally, SciREN gives researchers and educators opportunities to arrange classroom visits and to collaborate on curriculum development.

We’re thrilled to partner with the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum again for the SciREN Coast Networking event
In an effort to keep SciREN accessible to researchers and educators along different parts of NC’s coast, we’re excited to announce that we will be hosting the event again at the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum on Harkers Island. We hope that this location will continue to broaden the reach of SciREN Coast and encourage participants from far and wide to join. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store!
Researchers
Anyone in a STEM field looking to share educational materials about their work are welcome to host a table to share it with over 100 other researchers and K-12 teachers. This is a great opportunity to share your work, fulfill outreach requirements, and encourage the next generation of young scientists. All booths will be eligible for prizes at the end of the night.

All participants are expected to have classroom-ready materials to hand out to educators at SciREN. To help you prepare, we ask that you attend one of our prep workshops (virtually via Zoom or in-person) to walk through what these deliverables could look like. Registration will be sent out in January 2027 following a series of workshops.

Educators
Any and all educators looking to get scientific classroom resources (e.g., lesson plans, activities, and contact info of scientists looking to come to your classroom) and interact with local researchers are welcome to join.
